One of the greatest things about the Joaquin neighborhood is all the great trees that line the streets.  According to the history books, "an 1878 city ordinance required landowners to plant shade trees along the streets" (Cannon, 1987.  A Very Eligible Place, Provo & Orem, An Illustrated History.  p 81)

However, there are still a lot of places where trees could be planted if the residents in the area desired it.   As part of the neighborhood improvement efforts, we are working with Provo's Urban Forester to get trees planted in the parking strips where residents request them.  If you would like a tree planted in the parking strip in front of your home or building, please contact Michael Kennard at mspam@byu.edu.

To plant a tree in the parking strip, you must obtain a permit from the Urban Forester.  Call 852-6644.  Also, you must follow the guidelines in the Street Tree Selection Guide.
