Knight Mansion
185 East Center Street
Built in 1905
for Jesse Knight, on of the greatest financiers and mining businessmen in
the history of Provo. Knight was a generous philanthropist and
donated his wealth to BYU and many local civic projects. This home
was designed by Salt Lake architect Walter Ware in the neo-classic style,
influence by the 1893 Chicago World Fair, and built with white pressed
brick. This home began a major trend among Utah County homes, many
of which use similar materials and design. The central sections of
the building are original. (Provo Historic Buildings Tour) |
